Foundation of CIMAI by Maria de Lourdes Mesquita. At this stage CIMAI was a research laboratory that developed products for the same group companies – SIQ/NORSIQ.
Construction of production site starts in Belas.
The factory starts its production in Belas. Pedro Mesquita joins the group as a Commercial Director. By the end of the year Mesquita family acquires 100% of the share capital of the factory and CIMAI becomes independent from SIQ/NORSIQ group.
Fernando Mesquita joins CIMAI management team as Financial Director.
CIMAI obtains ISO 9002 certification by prestigious german certifying company TÜV Rheinland. The same year CIMAI starts its activity in Mozambique.
CIMAI started with the research and development for new line of chemical products for construction, with a special focus on epoxy and polyurithane paints for continuous pavements.
CIMAI becomes a joint stock company and increases its capital to €500 000 and opens new division of research and development of food hygiene and oenology products. CIMAI obtains NP EN ISO 9001 certification by the certifying entity BVQI.
First two global swimming pool maintenance contracts signed. CIMAI becomes a maintenance provider for the swimming pools of Sport Lisboa and Benfica and Sporting Portuguese Club, both located at new stadiums that were build for the EURO 2004 Football Championship.
New company CIMAI Engenharia is created and core business of the company is a global maintenance of the public swimming pools, with 75% of share capital owned by CIMAI. At the same time CIMAI initiates its activity in Angola.
CIMAI Cabo Verde (CIMAI CV) Industria e Comércio, SA is created and 100% of share capital belongs to CIMAI.
CIMAI acquires 100% of CIMAI Engenharia and as a result of the fusion between two companies, the company changes its name from CIMAI – Especialidades Químicas, SA to CIMAI – Engenharia e Química Avançada, SA.
Internally company is divided into two units: Engineering and Chemical divisions, each with autonomous management.
Due to economic crisis within construction industry CIMAI concentrates its resources and efforts on original core business and closes the production line for construction products for the national market, but maintains it open for the export operations for the Angolan market.
